Ajay Devgn: Pratap Kumar
A dalit himself, Pratap understands the intricacies of race-relations in small towns like Jhanjhar. He is very strong headed and has a subtle approach towards his investigations as he charms and cajoles his way through the scared and tight-lipped residents of this dusty district.

Akshaye Khanna: Siddhant Chaturvedi
Siddhant has raised high in the CBI hierarchy through an idealistic adherence to protocol. He has a very no-nonsense, direct approach, with a 'copy book' style of investigation. His straight forward and direct approach towards all the situations is a characteristic that differs him from Pratap.

Bipasha Basu: Geeta
Geeta is born in a well-to-do family and leads a good life until she is married. Her transition from a girl into a woman changes her life drastically. The dilemma of her love and emotions lands her into the hands of a brutal guy, who takes away her individuality. Traumatized by the inhuman activities happening around, she chooses to be indifferent from the world.

Amita Pathak: Roshni
Daughter of the richest and the most powerful person in the village. Being unaware of the consequences, the soft-hearted Roshni loses her heart to a lower caste boy and in turn becomes the initiation of the biggest investigation in the village which kick-starts the story of Aakrosh. Trapped in the complicacy of love and hatred, she becomes one of the key elements of wipe out the inhuman crime from the village.

Paresh Rawal: Ajatshatru Singh
A sweet talking and corrupt police officer, he is full of disgust and hatred for members of lower caste. He misuses his power to the fullest to do everything out of the rule book.

Synopsis
The film revolves around a lower caste guy who had gone along with his 2 friends to a village - Jhanjhar in Bihar, his native place, to watch Ramleela. These 3 students of Delhi University go missing in the dusty village. In the previous 3 months there was no clue where the young students have vanished. Media and students movement all over Bihar takes a pivotal step for getting hint of these students, its then government appoints CBI officers Siddhant Chaturvedi and Pratap Kumar and find out the truth under it. A person residing in Bihar himself and, Pratap understands the intricacies of race relations in small towns like Jhanjhar. Pratap tries to use his charm and smartness to crack investigation whereas Siddhant has a very no non-sense, direct approach investigation. It's simply a clash of personalities and ideologies.

Investigating in Jhanjhar becomes a tough task for these officers as the local police force Headed by Bhura Ram with the help of local MP's and landlords run a major branch of the Shool Sena. At the same time the two officers cannot break the ice with local Low cast community members, due to years of fear instilled in them by regular and highly planned Shool Sena attacks. Roshni (daughter of the most powerful and richest person of village) acts as a key element to reveal certain realities and give a new direction to the investigation.
